Why Didn’t Christina Aguilera Lose Weight on Her Diet?

by Kate on February 9, 2010

Many celebrities often call in professionals such as personal chefs and private trainers when it comes time for them to start getting fit. And that’s just what Christina Aguilera did too. So, why did this pop star actually gain weight under the careful eye of health gurus? Because for Christina, it wasn’t a problem of not being skinny, it was a problem of not being healthy.

Christina first became known for her junk food addict ways when she wouldn’t sign a contract with a venue unless there were Oreos in her dressing room. But junk food wasn’t her only enemy. Christina was also touring and producing albums, all of which takes an incredible amount of energy and stamina. Being on tour has actually been compared to participating in an athletic competition by many professionals. And stars can burn anywhere from 2,000 – 4,000 calories a night while they’re onstage. Because Christina was doing all of this, and not refueling her body with the needed nutrients, her body actually wound up being underfed.

Once Christina started gearing up for her Justified/Stripped tour with Justin Timberlake, she called in both a nutritionist and a private chef to help whip her into shape. After she started eating healthily and taking proper care of herself, her body began doing what it was supposed to do and started forming curves instead of the pencil-thin figure she had before.

After Christina had her son, Max, in 2008, she too dropped the weight quickly like so many stars seem to. But she was still living a very healthy lifestyle and keeping a close eye on her diet. Christina was a big campaigner for breast-feeding shortly after she gave birth, saying that she’d like to do it for as long as possible. While Christina liked the other benefits this had for her figure, this is also a known quick-fix for getting rid of pregnancy weight.

Christina Aguilera is a great role model for women who think that being healthy is all about being skinny. Healthy comes in all different shapes and sizes. And doing what’s best for you, is truly doing your body good!
